So, I take back the evils' ive said in the past about Seattles own 'Aiden'..... they're awesome live.

------------

review:

missing half of Goodnight Nurses' set I was a little pissed off to say the least. but it was okay. walked in singing their songs - looking around - being the only one that knew them period yet alone their lyrics.

the place was basically empty. a very poor turnout which is such a shame since the lineup here was fairly solid give or take kisschasy but thats a personal choice. but it was easy to tell who people were here to see - Parkway Drive. the numerous shirts made that crystal clear.

97% like always with my shortness and knowledge of how crowds work I found myself dodging in and out of the very very thick 3 people deep crowd. how could I survive?! I really dont know. I just put on a brave face and went in.

being surrounded by a sea of haircuts/haircolours similar to mine. Jeans exactly like mine. shoes - exactly like mine. shirts of the same sort as mine... I felt a bit... unoriginal. which was weird. of course the wannabe scene kids stuck out like a crab infected pubic hair. Who the fuck ATTEMPTS to hXc dance in a mosh pit like that?! you do that to the side of the stage and you have skill in it. these girls were literally wannabes. quite sad. there is no scene bands here so why were they even here? but then it clicked - theyre the former emo kids in the city and the now 'scene kids'. i wonder when they'll go back to wearing 50 cent hoodies and those stupid rap pants again? fingers crossed soon. they piss me off at shows.

the next band was the getaway plan. a nice up and coming (I think will be big) band from Melbourne. but unfortunate they should take some advice from their friends of Parkway Drive and learn to use the stage more. i havent seen such a boring band on stage for a while. I was quite disappointed to say the least which really is a huge shame. I also seemed to be the only person knowing any words and actually moving my head and body. the rest of the crowd.... just STOOD there. doing NOTHING. but have their camera phones out and staring blankly at them. the drunk boys behind me had a great laugh at how skinny black haired guitarist (who strangely I cant remember his name right now) legs and whole body is "I COULD SERIOUSLY JUST HIT HIM AND HE'D SNAP AT THE KNEES HAHAHAHA"... amusing yes?
but as I was saying before, their performance was less than rememberable sadly.

next on the agenda - PARRRRRRRKWAAAAAAAAAY DRIIIIIIVE it had been some time since I saw them live at ToC and wasnt too impressed there but this afternoon... wow. they got my vote back. energetic, COMPLETE use of the stage, guitar solos from here to Timbuktu and very good crowd activity. seems our boys learnt a great deal touring internationally. I was impressed.

then afterwards Winston jumped off stage and high fived people - he held my hand for some seconds though strangely - then started signing contently. signing my shoe, got a hug and a photo (one of the fuckers that didnt send -__-;). nice guy. he thought my hair was "nice". happy man who its clear loves his fans and where he is right now in life.

after some time it was kisschasys turn to ONCE AGAIN hit a stage that was infront of me. dont get me wrong they seem like nice guys but there is only so much kisschasy I can take. do they have some... dibs... to support almost every band I go or want to see? it seems like it. and no, I do not like them at all. their songs are like cheese graters to my ears. i dont find them clever or amusing. pretty.... bleak. maybe their next album they happily told the crowd over and over again is coming out next year or something. Oh and a funny thing - they had to remind the crowd who they were. Ive never had that experience before. haha. but anyway after a long draining set that had my scene hXc dancers going insane - ones boob falling out of her dress even - what a frenzy! their microphones also sounded like they were at the wrong level. a little too soft.

next a band i do actually like and dont mind seeing more than 4 times - gyroscope. they were very very happy and pleased to be home in our little city of Perth. playing a lot of old songs got their hardcore "old skool" fans going almost as crazy as the dancing scene cheerleaders. I almost went deaf from the girl behind me. was a nice singalong for all with classics 'Doctor Doctor', 'Beware Wolf' and "mega" hit 'Fast Girl'.

after a period of time of the slow and "steady" tech guys doing their thing Jake and Angel from Aiden appear onstage and start to set up the tune their own guitars/basses onstage. later joined by the rest of the Aiden clan except frontman wiL Francis (who also made a sidestage appearance by watching kisschasy perform oddly enough). as time passes the crowd grows more and more restless and screams of "WIL WIL WIL WIL WIL WIL" feel the late night crisp air. I spot Jake smirking at this as he heads off to the side of the stage as the rest of the band follow suit. then in a burst of energy wiL bounds onstage straight into song. with "FUCK YEAH PERTH!" thrown in here and there. I do have to admit and if you know me already know... ive never been a big Aiden fan if one at all. but now... wow. that band - ripped that stage. jumping, running, round-the-worlding left right and centre. often if not always making an effort to stand as close to the edge and more like on the edge of the stage to play and sing. watching the pack of the crowd rip and tear their claws at wiL when he jumped off stage more than once was a show in itself "what are you all trying to take my clothes off or somethin?" he giggles as he replaces his stance on stage with help from security he later asks the crowd to cheer and thank. 'Die Romantic' was the key highlight here with the mosh going ape shit. later wiL tells us to make a death wall after a pettiful attempt at a circle pit. the wall works. crowd clash as a broad wide smile creeps across Francis's heavily makeup'd face. a few more dives into the crowd and a "thankyou so much for staying to see us" here and there he tells us they WILL be back in 2007 and a comical tale of how he feels like hes missing a day after catching a 20 hour non-stop flight here from Seattle "but this show makes up for it" he cries. one encore song then they leave. but before as wiL mentioned they will be at the merch stand when they finish. and he doesnt kid - about only less than 10 minutes after wiL comes out with a massive smile on his face and proudly stands and takes photos with starstruck fans and after a "i need a pen" repeated several times security hands him one and its all go "SIGN THIS PLEASE WIL" "OH MY GOD WIL I LOVE YOU" "YOU'RE MY IDOL SERIOUSLY!!!" "cool" "thanks" his answers are of one word mostly.girls hand him notes in his hand and he whispers "shh" at her and stuffs it in his sweat filled pocket. I dont know how it happened but then I was in the Aiden "posse" being escorted to the merch stand. I joke to wiL that this is almost a paparazzi raid and he assures me "its been much worse or better however you look at it" we arrive he signs my album and my shoe after an awkward balance on his knee as more and more people hound him (all said in eachothers ears during him hugging me)
"wiL youre awesome on stage can I have a hug please?!"
"sure. you're sweet"
-sweat slime down face-
"THANKYOU!!"
"youre welcome, see you next year"
"fuck yeah dude!"
and he laughs once more.
his voice like mine doesnt suit him. its cute as hell and reminds me of someone elses (HAHAHA :F).

but yes wiL, I for sure will be seeing you next year. I love bands that actually care about their fans as much as they seem too.

Oh and then I managed to find Angel and Jake in the feeding frenzy of hungry 'emo'/scene teens.

awesome night. with awesome bands (minus one, sorry but i really cannot stand them -_-;).
